Round Up: Reel: Wyoming PBS and Buffalo Bill Center of the West Release Interview Series that Explores Western Heritage

In a joint video production between Wyoming PBS and the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, historians Paul Hutton and Peter Cozzens discuss their new books exploring the unique history of the American West. Available on the Wyoming PBS YouTube channel, the series marks the first steps in the partnership’s efforts to authentically frame Western heritage in ways that align with the Wyoming nonprofit’s commitment to educating, informing, and inspiring its viewers.

“This collaboration allows us to share the depth and complexity of the American West in a way that connects history and storytelling,” says Wyoming PBS CEO Joanna Kail.

From the Center of the West explores the experiences of Indigenous peoples and Western settlers, examining the tall tales and myths of small frontier towns to highlight how greed, hope, and reinvention shaped both the West and the nation as a whole.

Through its collaboration with the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, the series gains access to five museums — the Buffalo Bill Museum, Whitney Western Art Museum, Draper Natural History Museum, Plains Indian Museum, and Cody Firearms Museum — informing its exploration of the specific people, artifacts, and ideas that have proven essential to understanding the complicated history of the American West.
