Jackson Hole’s vibrant arts community

Jackson, Wyoming has long been a place where art, nature, and heritage meet, but last year, the mountain getaway was hailed as the No. 1 Arts-Vibrant Community in the United States. So named by the Southern Methodist University Arts Vibrancy Index, the nation’s leading data-driven measure of arts and cultural vitality, this recognition comes from the evaluation of more than 900 communities.

Jackson Hole’s arts ecosystem is anchored by a dense network of galleries, museums, and performing arts organizations. More than 25 galleries and the National Museum of Wildlife Art —  home to over 5,000 works — define the valley’s cultural identity and are further supported by a lively performing arts and music scene featuring local, regional, and national touring acts year-round.

Among the area’s most popular events, the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival is a cultural anchor. Now in its 42nd year, the 2026 Fall Arts Festival, slated for September 9 – 20, will bring more than 50 arts-related activities to the community over 12 days. Produced by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, the event draws artists, collectors, and cultural travelers for experiences that include gallery walks, live auctions, artist demonstrations, and exhibitions. The festival’s centerpiece, the Jackson Hole QuickDraw Auction, highlights the creative process while generating economic and philanthropic benefits.
