The national parks have long been linked to the arts, with pioneering artists documenting the landscapes on behalf of government agencies in the name of conservation since before the National Park Service was established. This summer and fall, there are a number of art programs in the parks celebrating the park service centennial and artists in history and contemporary times. Here are some in the Northern Rockies:
