Art events are a fall fixture in the Northern Rockies, ranging from design showcases and auctions to annual exhibits and festivals. Here’s a list of what not to miss:

Modernist Intersections: The Tia Collection | July 27 – Oct. 15 | Yellowstone Art Museum | Billings, MT

This show features works from the early 20th century to the present that rely on a broad definition of Modernism, including the historic and contemporary, the abstract and representational. It includes both American and international art from the large Tia Collection in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which organized the exhibition.

Bighorn Rendezvous Art Show & Sale | Aug. 4 – 6 | Brinton Museum | Big Horn, WY

Thirty-three painters and sculptors, along with five special guest artists, come together at the Quarter Circle A Ranch for an artists’ reception and preview, a quick draw and brunch, an auction to benefit the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists, a banquet, awards ceremony, and sale. The exhibit hangs until Aug. 27.

A Timeless Legacy Exhibit & Sale | Aug. 15 – Sept. 23 | Hockaday Museum of Art | Kalispell, MT

Twenty-eight nationally recognized female artists, known for their work featuring Western subjects, make up this show of art connected to the majesty of Glacier National Park. Works will be offered for sale at fixed prices with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the museum.

Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival | Sept. 6 – 17 | Jackson, WY

The 33rd annual Fall Arts Festival brings nationally and internationally acclaimed artists to Jackson for 11 days of art shows, music, cuisine, and wine. This year’s featured artist is painter Mark Keathley.

Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale | Sept. 7 – 10 | Snow King Center | Jackson, WY
