Round Up Landmark: Bozeman’s Town Enclosure remains a mainstay of experiential art

Four years after moving the Pavilion Project’s Town Enclosure to Bozeman’s Story Mill Community Park from its inaugural location at the Center for the Arts in the heart of downtown Jackson, Wyoming, the large-scale installation continues to engage public audiences with its inquisitive design and brilliant setting.

Town Enclosure is one of several public art installments by CLB that have been repurposed or moved to broaden access to the arts. According to CLB, these pieces are further accentuated by the settings around them and can complement natural phenomena such as starry skies, a mountainous backdrop, or even the northern lights.

“Installation design has emerged as a natural growing point of CLB’s practice,” says CLB Partner Eric Logan. “Our understanding of ‘public’ is generative and generous instead of faceless and anonymous. These armatures provide accessible and interactive spaces within the community, encouraging individuals to discover themselves and their relationships within the world around them.”
