Round Up: Noteworthy: Bozeman’s Alara Jewelry to be featured on Empowered with Meg Ryan for sustainability leadership

Alara Jewelry — founded in 2004 in Bozeman, Montana — is set to appear on the nationally broadcast television series Empowered with Meg Ryan. The mini-documentary spotlights Alara’s efforts in ethical sourcing, sustainability, and environmental responsibility within the fine jewelry industry.

According to founder and designer Babs Noelle, Alara is committed to transparency and craftsmanship. “We’re not here to chase trends or blend in,” Noelle says. “We’re here to do what’s right — even when it’s hard — and prove that beautiful things can be made without compromising ethics or the Earth.”

The upcoming TV segment showcases Alara as a model for how small businesses can make a big impact, particularly in an industry where opacity has historically been the norm. The segment highlights Alara’s use of fair-trade, ethically sourced Montana sapphires and responsibly mined and recycled gold, as well as its dedication to upcycling diamonds and other precious gems. Filmed on location at Alara’s downtown Bozeman storefront and atelier, the Empowered feature presents an intimate look at a business rooted in values, community, and creativity. It airs on select PBS affiliates later this year and will be distributed to streaming platforms and educational outlets nationwide.

“To be recognized for what we’ve quietly insisted on for over two decades is incredibly validating,” says Noelle. “This is a win not just for us but for conscious consumers, for Montana, and for the future of jewelry.”
