inThroughout the late summer and fall, there are a number of prestigious art shows and auctions around the Northern Rockies. Many of these bring together a variety of skilled artists and craftsmen and women, displaying in mediums from sculpture to painting, and in styles from Western to contemporary. And if you love what you see, for the right price, you can take it home with you. Here are some to catch:
Bighorn Rendezvous Art Show & Sale
Aug. 5 – Sept. 5 | Brinton Museum | Big Horn, Wyoming
Thirty-seven painters and sculptors and nine guest artists come together to create art inspired by the Bighorn Mountains and the Quarter Circle A Ranch. The weekend includes an artists’ reception and preview, a quick draw and brunch, an auction to benefit the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists, and a banquet, awards ceremony, and sale. Heart of the West, Art Show & Auction

Sept. 1 – 4 | Coeur d’Alene Resort, | Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
These contemporary Western art shows feature more than 60 juried artists and galleries along with quick finish artist demonstrations and live auctions. Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival
Sept. 7 – 18 | Jackson, Wyoming
The 32nd annual Fall Arts Festival brings nationally and internationally acclaimed artists to Jackson for 11 days of art shows, music, cuisine, and wine. Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale
Sept. 8 – 11 | Snow King Center | Jackson, Wyoming
Held in conjunction with the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, this event brings together Western craft, home design, fashion, and art. Artists and designers integrate their works into a home environment for the Designer Show House, which allows attendees to walk through six fully designed rooms. Jackson Hole Art Auction
Sept. 16 – 17 | The Center for the Arts | Jackson, Wyoming
In its 10th year, the Jackson Hole Art Auction is a signature event of Jackson’s annual Fall Arts Festival, featuring wildlife, sporting, figurative, landscape, and Western art by both renowned past masters and contemporary artists. With locations in Scottsdale, Arizona, Jackson, Wyoming, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and New York, New York, the auction principals, Trailside Galleries and Gerald Peters Gallery, bring more than 100 years of combined experience and expertise to the event.
Rendezvous Royale
Sept. 21 – 24 | Buffalo Bill Center of the West | Cody, Wyoming
This annual Western arts celebration features the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale, along with seminars and an elegant ball, encouraging attendees to immerse themselves in Western art. By Western Hands, the invitational design exhibition opens Sept. 21; a panel will discuss the history and future of Western design on Sept. 22; and the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale will follow on Sept. 23 and 24.
