01 Aug Round Up: Altamira Fine Art Adds John Nieto’s Dynamic Works

Altamira Fine Art will once again represent work by the late contemporary American artist John Nieto in its Jackson, Wyoming gallery.

Nieto, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 81, is lauded for his dynamic style, which was defined by his use of intense primary colors and bold brushstrokes, as inspired by the 1920s French Fauvist movement he experienced during a visit to Paris. His work reflects his Hispanic and American Indian ancestry and includes bronze sculptures, etchings, lithographs, silk-screen prints, pastels, and charcoal drawings.

“John Nieto and Altamira Fine Art have had a long and prosperous relationship for many years, and we are thrilled to once again represent his family and estate,” says gallery owner Jason Williams. “The available works are fabulous examples of Nieto’s style and prove to collectors that he deserved his reputation as an American icon.”
