Dancing Color features new works from Carol Hagan inspired by the natural beauty of her native Montana. The paintings in this series depict the skies, landscapes, birds, and animals of her surroundings, emphasizing the connection Hagan feels toward the land. The exhibition is comprised of vivid oil paintings highlighting Montana’s magical and magnificent places.
Carol Hagan was born in the small farming community of Central City, Nebraska. At the age of six, her family moved to Montana, where she has lived here ever since. Hagan is a self-taught artist with no formal training. and has worked hard to develop her own style of expression on paper, canvas, and glass. She has been called both a Contemporary Expressionist and a Colorist. Her techniques with line and texture are a contemporary expression of her subject matter. “Even the simplest lines and slightest marks are fascinating in their own way. They are much like people, in that each mark, no matter how detailed or how simple, has its own voice and has something to say. The smallest marks hold as much significance as the largest ones in the story every painting has to tell.”
