07 Feb WaterWorks Art Museum Juried Exhibition Winners
inWaterWorks Art Museum (WAM) in Miles City, Montana, is proud to announce the award winners of this year's Juried Exhibit currently showing in the gallery. Jerry Cornelia, the juror for this event, explained that it was difficult to choose winners, noting that every piece juried into this exhibition was exceptional. Cornelia deliberated for a long time and studied each piece thoroughly. When asked what he looks for when choosing his winners, he explained that he looks for the following when determining his choices: composition, technique, and style. Do the colors compliment each other? Is there a particular boldness about the piece.? Does the art bring forth an emotion that draws you in and keeps you there? Is the piece unique like nothing you have experienced before?
Thanks to Stockman Bank and the Nefsy Foundation the following has been chosen for awards:
Best of Show: Corinne McAuley – (glass beads) “Fall Fire.”
2nd Place: Amy Wendland – (watercolor, colored pencil, sedum rhodanthum stone) “Stonecrop, a Crested Chicken Interfering.”
3rd Place: Jordan Pehler – (encaustic and oil) “Emphasis.”
Material Award winners are:
The Artist Magazine Award: Mary Knapp – (fused glass) “A Storm is Brewing.”
Water Color Artist Magazine Award: Shayla Hagen – (watercolor) “Mystic.”
Diane Townsend Award: Barbara Garrett – (soft pastel) “Where Valley Meets Rims: Yellowstone Valley.”
Cheap Joes Art Supply Award: Brian Maly – (acrylic) “Snowfall on Lilacs.”
Source Tek Awards: Lorri Coulter – (acrylic) “Hang it Up.”
Karen Jacobson – (oil) “Light No Longer Scattered.”
Jack Richeson Awards: David Mensing – (oil) “The Calm.”
Nolan Salix – (leatherwork) “Big Hole Livelihood.”
Directors Choice: Joel Bowers – (digital) “Cosmic Vortex.”
