Minor League teams run a short season during a Montana summer

The comments about the community aspects of the team reminded me of the stories my mother told me of the importance of baseball in her mountain country community in her youth. They would walk miles to see a game and the games were THE events of importance socially. Loved the article and especially the writer's joy in being able to make that journey.

Our family has travelled all over the United States and Canada following our son playing baseball. He has matured as a person and as a player because of baseball. Our family has all enjoyed meeting other players, coaches and parents. It is a trip in life that we as parents are thankful we made. Our sons' successes do lay in small towns like High Point, Barrie and Normal Illinois. Your article has been a parallel path and brings back fond memories for our family.

"Without hope a vision dies, life becomes tasteless, and motivation is squelched." Thanks Garry. Great article and great perspective- not just on the wonderful game of baseball, but of life itself.
Hope for baseball?

I am not a "baseball person" but this article by Garry clearly shows why he - and so many others - love it. When you get so tired of reading about overpaid "superstars" it was refreshing to see that, while ambitious, there are so many that play for the love of the game. The community aspects were also revealing

This article makes me want to go to a baseball game today! Also, I would love to visit the Big Sky Country that it describes for my own re-reward.

I have never been a "baseball person" but this article by Garry Griffith brought out the community aspect so well that I think I can begin to understand the fever.
